David discovered fantasy football when reading the 1987 Fantasy Football Index Magazine. David started a fantasy league with his co-workers based on the printed out rules included in that magazine. His competitive spirit in this $20 buy-in league formed lasting thoughts on drafting, trading, and winning fantasy leagues. He launched the first version of mrfootball.com on AOL in 1989 as a means to organize his thoughts as well as create bookmarks to the expanding internet. Within a few years, an improved version of this website was featured by Yahoo! as one of the top three fantasy football sites on the internet. In the late 1990s, David sold Mr. Football to Fanball and after two years of a non-compete agreement, he started working with Joe Bryant to create Footballguys.com.

By creating a community of experts to guide fantasy players in all aspects of the hobby, Footballguys quickly became one of the best fantasy football resources. It now boasts 50+ staff, 60,000 subscribers, a fee mailing list of 400,000+, and publishes over 50,000 pages of internet content yearly.

David was inducted into the Fantasy Sports Writers Association's Hall of Fame in 2012.
