Mike Beacom Fantasy Sports Pioneer

In 2000, Mike Beacom started his career in fantasy sports as a contributing writer for Fantasy Sports Magazine. The following year he and a partner started FantasyGMs.com, which included a strong offering for college football analysis.

After three years they merged with Pro Fantasy Sports. At their peak PFS provided player news and feature content for eight sports relying on a staff of more than 30 writers. Within three years they sold their company to Jeff Thomas.

Mike joined the executive committee (chairman) of the Fantasy Sports Writers Association in 2004. Then in 2007 he took over as president. He helped organize the selection process for FSWA annual writer's awards and also developed the FSWA Hall of Fame and crafted the HOF selection process. He developed partnerships with SiriusXM to announce award finalists on-air.

He also was a contributing writer to Sports Illustrated, FootballDiehards.com and appeared on 30+ sports talk radio stations around the country.

He did editorial work with Cox Media Group and was a contributing writer for Lindy’s Sports Annuals, FootballDiehards.com, Inside Wisconsin Sports Magazine, Pro Football Weekly and many more.

He is the author of three Books: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Understanding Football, The Game I Won't Forget: Wisconsin Badgers, and Ohio State Football: Yesterday and Today.

Mike also taught journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for 16 years.
